'The Rifleman' — reloaded
Margie/Cowgirl develops full Website on classic Western
By Karen Blackledge ~ The Daily Item

Margie is a Cowgirl at heart.

So much that a year ago, in July, she created a website on the old "The Rifleman" TV show.

"I taught  myself to create The McCain Ranch," the Pennsylvania woman said about the website.  "I wanted to give something back to 'The Rifleman' that has given me so much.  I just love it!"

When the show first aired in 1958, she was 11.  It ran until 1963.  "Westerns were a big thing then.  I love all westerns," she said.

Her website has been visited by thousands of people from all over the world.  At one point, it generated 33,417 hits per week.

The website, which she initially started on Webtv until she got a computer, contains lots of information about the show, which was set in 1880's.  There's a site map that takes visitors to pages such as a cowboy cookbook. [which Lucasboy gave her]

Contributors have written episodes, Margie's boyfriend, Tom, wrote an article on the background of 'The Rifleman's' parents, saying they came from Ireland following the potato famine.  Tom helped her out in buying a domain name and paying for the web space.

"I've had people contact me who starred in episodes," Margie said.  They include Tony Haig, whom Margie met while in California.  He played Percy in the "Hostage of Fortune" episode.

She also has been in touch with Steve Rowlands, who lives in England and is a record producer.  He was in two episodes  "Home Ranch" and "The Coward".
